Corrections and updates
As well as a few errors that survived our best efforts at pre-publication checks, visitor details for some sites have changed following publication.
Please check with the organisation managing the site before making a long journey – use this website or other contact details given in the book.

Fingringhoe Wick (pp 44-46) access change
The visitor centre and nature reserve are open 9am–5pm Tuesday to Sunday and Bank Holidays, closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
Iron Latch (p 54) access change
There is now no vehicle access to Iron Latch Lane. Park at the south end of the service road to nos. 96–132 Halstead Road and walk up the lane from there.
Lexden Springs (p 56)
Size should be 2.5 acres (not 2.5ha).
Roman River Valley (p 60) access change
Both parking and access are difficult for the entrance north of Kingsford Bridge. Instead, park in Layer-de-la-Haye on New Cut (or a side road), a turning off the B1026 about 700m south of Kingsford Bridge, and access the reserve via one of the two public footpaths (leaving at each of its two bends) off New Cut.
Crowsheath Wood (p 117)
Grid reference should be TQ 724 965 (not TL 724 965).
Mid-Chelmer valley (pp 134-135) access change
There is a small car park at the end of the bridleway in Back Lane with direct access to Little Waltham Meadows and easy access to Newland Grove. There should be no need to park on the grass verge.
Bedfords Park (p 192)
Size should be 215ac/87ha (not 90ac/36ha).
Tylers Common (p 211–213)
The car park at Tylers Common has been closed to prevent anti-social behaviour.
Linford Wood (p 230)
North point is misaligned: East Tilbury Road runs NNW from East Tilbury station towards the reserve.
Shotgate Thickets (p 236)
Grid reference should be TQ 767 942 (not TQ 765 939).
