Key facts

A low-growing woodland plant with clusters of pale pink or greenish white flowers in summer

Deep green leaves, mainly around the base, are palmate and toothed

Grows especially in woods on chalky soils such as in north-west Essex


Leaves are used to make herbal tea and mouthwash
