These two ex-arable fields and a 19th-century orchard were left to Essex Wildlife Trust in 1996 by the then owner of Sergeant's Farm. Within the orchard a wide range of old varieties of fruit tree remain, together with an old pond and the remnants of the hedges. A new orchard has been planted on the western field using stock taken from the original orchard.

Between Aldham and Chappel turn off the A1124 into Vernons Road. Follow signs for Bures/Sudbury and turn right at the T-junction. There is a small pull-in at the entrance to the bridle path with a chain attached to two metal posts.
